Handcrafted Wedding Supplies: a Quaint, Charming Alternative


When planning a wedding, the budget often veers out of control, when costs of the different wedding supplies begin to pile up. Economizing is an important skill to have when planning a ceremony, so that once a couple is married, they dont have to deal with a crushing debt on top of the task of penning the thank-you cards. Certain aspects of the wedding are difficult to be frugal with most notably the wedding gown.

However, wedding supplies such as centerpieces and party favors are a great point of budgeting homemade and handcrafted wedding supplies are actually possible home sewn wedding gowns and home baked wedding cakes will often have telltale signs that scream homemade! but centerpieces and favors can be homemade or handcrafted and still look impeccable.

The most inexpensive way to get wedding supplies is to make them yourself. The idea of patching together gift baskets and centerpieces can seem intimidating, but it can also give you the chance to be creative. As opposed to indulging in ridiculous themed weddings (which can be expensive), personalizing a wedding with handmade wedding supplies is a great way to show your guests and members of your wedding party just how much they mean to you.

Putting together a basket yourself for your bridesmaids and groomsmen is an especially a great idea. As opposed to putting together an expensive gift bag, assembling gifts together yourself can result in much more personal and touching swag. Wedding centerpieces are a little more difficult, but not impossible. Putting together decorative wreaths with dried fruits and beautiful flowers is a great idea remember to use flowers in the centerpieces that do not clash with the weddings overall flower scheme.

Some people have gone as far as putting live goldfish in their centerpieces - not a bad idea, though goldfish have a tendency to go belly-up at the most inopportune time, and nothing puts people off that poached salmon you are serving at the wedding more than a dead fish.

But the idea of combining different elements for the centerpieces is clever if the wedding is being held in a rural setting, putting together a centerpiece of a horseshoe, surrounded by beautiful wildflowers and babys breath is a clever and witty idea. Having a Parisian theme is also quite easy miniature Eiffel Towers with other Gallic touches like small French flags or porcelain roosters are also adorable and affordable parts of an elegant sum. Again, the cost of these homemade centerpieces will allow for you to keep your wedding supplies budget very low.

Making homemade wedding supplies has the potential of being hokey and cheesy-looking, but with advance planning, and cooperation with friends who can be seen as amateur experts, the experience can be fun and rewarding as the guests will leave, knowing that much of what theyve enjoyed at the wedding was done by hand and with love.

To compliment your dress you can also add some pearl necklaces, sandals, a hat, or if you wanted to be very earthy, you can go barefoot.

The sooner you have all of the petty details worked out, the more time you will have to enjoy the days preceding your wedding and the less stressed you will find yourself as the day approaches. Instead of expensive wedding shoes, consider dressing up your ensemble with a pair of embroidered or textured silk stockings; theyll show when your gown is lifted to retrieve the garter, and will be much more noticeable.
